First day in San Francisco
Mike, Schneider, and I have settled into our new home for the next two weeks, the glorious Woodfin Suites hotel in Emeryville, CA! It’s so glorious, that we woke up to the sounds an aggressive stream of water pouring into our bathtub from the ceiling light fixture! Fortunately, that’s been the only real hitch in our travels so far. We made it here safely, and in good time. The trip was surprisingly picturesque, too!
Our first real day here in San Fran was a busy one. We drove into the city, parked the car, and walked around town for six hours straight, seeing as much as we could see until our legs gave out. All that walking in Portland was a good primer, although in case you haven’t heard, this city’s got a reputation for hills! We fit a lot in that time- Golden Gate park, the Castro, the Duboce Triangle, The Mission District, City Hall… Oh, and we got serenaded by a real-life mariachi band!! Still, we barely made a dent in the city!
Anyway, I took a few good pictures so far, and thought I’d share.
- The scenery on the way from Portland to San Francisco could be breathtaking.
- The San Francisco Skyline
- Townhouses, townhouses everywhere!
- The San Francisco City Hall is more majestic than most state capitol buildings!
- The famed Castro Street
- Even in our first day, we encountered some spectacular architecture! This is the Mission Dolores
- We got caught in the middle of a seven-piece mariachi band while exploring the Mission District!
- The University of San Francisco as the sun was setting
We miss our Portland posse!
