1960’s Diner Color Studies

Posted in Concept Art, Digital Painting, Friends, Illustration on February 1st, 2010 by g-t3k

Here is some concept art I made a while ago for my friend Eric, who owns his own multimedia company called Clearly Trained.  Clearly Trained (formerly known as Living Children) specializes in creating Flash modules for educational and training purposes.    We’ve worked together since we both graduated from the Columbus College of Art and Design in 2001.  Eric is one of my favorite people to collaborate with, and I’m very proud of the work we’ve done together over the years.

This particular piece was for a module based on a children’s book named “Freedom on the Menu”, which deals with the civil rights movement in the 1960’s.

Moving to San Francisco

Posted in Announcements, Artists, Friends, Portland, San Francisco on October 16th, 2008 by g-t3k

I’m still really busy with freelance work, so another apology for my lack of updates here on the blog.  The good news is that I’m going to have a ton of new work for my portfolio after all is done.  The bad news is that I can’t post any of it- at least not until the game I’m working out comes out.  But I’m very happy with my work on it so far, so I can’t wait to share it with you.

The big news is that my partner, Mike, got a job at Pixar, down in San Francisco, so we’ll be moving there in about a month!  It’s great news!  Mike’s been wanting a job there for ten years now… it’s hard to believe Pixar’s been on the scene for that long.

I’ll be very sad to leave Portland, though.  This city’s been a special place to me.  We have lots of great friends here, and I feel a particular connection to Portland, itself.  I have enjoyed my time here immensely, but the two years we’ve been here have gone by way too quickly.

Congratulations Mike and Caitlin!

I just want to congratulate my friend, and freshman roommate from college, Mike Waclo, and his new wife Caitlin on their wedding day!

I’m really sad that I couldn’t be in Columbus with you guys on this special day, but I’m thinking of you, and wish you guys the best of luck!  A huge congratulations!  You guys are awesome!
